(A.D. 1759–1833) William Wilberforce was an English politician, member of Parliament from 1784 to 1812, and leader of the abolitionist movement in England. His efforts led to the abolition of the slave trade in 1807 and eventually the abolition of slavery in 1833, shortly before his death.
