HISTORY of Christian Theology

(A.D. 1869–1870) The ecumenical council of Roman Catholic bishops called and presided over by Pope Pius IX that was held between 1869–1870, and attacked modern ideas. It formally adopted the doctrine of papal infallibility and declared that Catholics needed to follow the theology of Thomas Aquinas including the idea that the existence of God can be known by natural reason.
