Pontius Pilate (c. 20 B.C.–c. A.D. 38) was the Roman Prefect of Judea from about 26 A.D. to 36 A.D. Jesus Christ was tried by Pontius Pilate, who found him to be without guilt, but acquiesced to the Jews’ demands to have him crucified.
