HISTORY of Christian Theology

Derived from a Latin term meaning “the father suffers,” refers to the heretical doctrine that God the Father suffered. Orthodox doctrine maintains that only the Son as the incarnate word of God suffers from the human frailty of feelings. See Deipassionism and theopaschite formula.
