Is the doctrine that God the Father is the sole source of being for the Son and the Holy Spirit. It comes from the Greek words mono, meaning “one,” and arche, meaning the source or beginning. Even though the Eastern and Western churches claim to believe this doctrine, the dispute regarding the concept of double procession that involves different interpretations of this doctrine ended up being the issue that split the Eastern and Western Churches.
