Was a Wesleyan movement founded in the 1830s in America by Methodist teacher Phoebe Palmer that advocated immediate perfection was obtainable through a special act of consecration by “laying all upon the altar” and thereby acquiring a “second blessing” of complete sanctification or Holiness. (Also known as Holiness tradition.)
