HISTORY of Christian Theology

Is a term used to identify unmerited assistance by God primarily to redeem and transform human beings. In the early and medieval church it also referred to God’s influence throughout existence. Redemptive grace is important to Augustinian theology which has greatly influenced Western Christian theology (both Catholic and Protestant), but not Eastern Orthodox theology. One of the central areas of conflict between the various Western Christian traditions involves the interplay between grace, works and free will.
