HISTORY of Christian Theology

Comes from the Greek term, evangelion, and means good news or the Gospel. This term was use in the 16th century to refer to Protestants and is still used this way in Germany to this day. In England and the United States this term is currently used to identify a form of Protestantism that emphasizes obtaining a saving born-again experience, living a holy life and the authority of the Bible. See evangelicalism.
