(c. A.D. 323–350) Constans was the third son of Emperor Constantine and became Emperor of the Western Roman Empire. He followed Nicene orthodoxy and barely avoided war with his brother and the Eastern Roman Empire who followed Arianism, by agreeing that each could support their preferred clergy within their own realms.
