Christological Controversy

(c. A.D. 150–681) During the 2nd Century disputes began in the Christian Church regarding the nature of Christ and his relation to the Father and Holy Spirit. The concept of the Trinity was established at the 1st Council of Nicaea in 325 but debate regarding the nature of Christ raged on until the Third Council of Constantinople in 681 that confirmed the findings of earlier councils.
