HISTORY of Christian Theology

A Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The first recorded celebration of Easter occurred in Rome in A.D. 336. Why the date of the winter solstice was chosen is not clear but may have been based on an ancient belief regarding the day of Jesus’ birth, for symbolic purposes or to more easily integrate Christianity with the Roman pagan religion.
